The SW London Handyman aims to provide the best handyman service in SW London. Here are my answers to FAQs.

Call me, David on 07956 532630 if you have further questions or would like to discuss some handyman work.

Pretty much all handyman jobs – everything from putting up pictures and curtains, to catflaps, flatpacks, and small electrical and plumbing jobs. Please see the list of handyman jobs on this website – but it is not exhaustive – if you can’t see what you need on the list, please ask. I specialise in the small jobs which make the most of my wide range of skills, which you may have seen in my biography.

All new work is guaranteed for 12 months. In the unlikely event that you were not happy with the work, I would return and remedy the problem immediately. Customer satisfaction is absolutely key. As a local business I depend on reputation and word of mouth. Some recent customer comments are on this website.

£45 for the first half hour, and £25 per half hour after that for handyman work. Parking fees and materials are charged in addition if applicable – see the rates page for details. I work quickly and efficiently and consider myself an expert handyman.

I can generally give you a rough idea over the phone of how long the job is likely to take, assuming there are no unexpected problems. I do not do quotes.

If after reading the email, having a chat on the phone, and perhaps seeing some images the repair is still not clear, I would suggest a ‘Go See’ Visit to the property. This is a flat £45 charge for a 30 minute visit. I would be able to answer all your questions and explain what would need to be done, as well as taking measurements if need be.

A ‘Go See’ visit would also be suggested if the job requires extensive repairs and/or is not straight forward.

I will undertake the work myself  – I have worked in the building and related industries for over 30 years and have expertise across a wide range of trades – see my biography for details about how I developed my skills.  I know it is hard to find a really good handyman with extensive knowledge across the trades.

I use professional tools and carry basic materials and fixings. For anything more specialist, rather than me having to go out to a shop when I arrive at your home, I suggest you buy the items yourself. Here is a list of shops, local and online, that I recommend.

Most work is completed during the working day, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm but it may be possible to arrange an early evening or Saturday appointment. There is a higher charge at these times which you can see on the Rates page.

Most of my handyman business is focused on SW London, in the Richmond, Balham, Clapham, Wandsworth, Wimbledon, Kingston, Twickenham areas. I also work occasionally in Redhill where I live.

You can pay by cheque, cash or bank transfer. If you pay by bank transfer, I ask for payment to be made within 24 hours.

Yes I have full public liability and other relevant insurance. Documents can be seen on request.

I don’t give fixed times, but a 1 to 2 hour window. I try to be as accurate as I possibly can to give a timeframe of when I will be with you. With variables such as traffic, diversions and unforeseen delays at a previous client’s property, it is impossible to give specific times of arrival.

I do not take away rubbish as the council charge tradespeople more than private individuals.  I can give suggestions of people who can help though. For storage I recommend easyStorage who will collect the items you need stored and bring them back when convenient to you.

I hope these FAQs cover the questions you have – but please get in touch if you have further questions.
